Focus RS and ST Enthusiasts Rally Together in Germany
COLOGNE, Germany – A large meadow in Germany‘s idyllic Eiffel region, where usually tractors and harvesters are the only vehicles to be seen, recently presented a remarkable scene: about 300 high-performance Ford models gathered there - with the famous Nuerburgring race track in sight.
The get together attracted fast Ford fans from all over Europe. Michael Kuhn, chairman, RS and ST Forum, said: “This is our third gathering of Focus RS and ST. Last year’s meeting was a lot smaller and this year you can tell how much we have grown. I think we have Focus RS from almost every country in the EU. There are 18 people here from Italy, a lot of participants from Luxemburg, as well as from the UK, Switzerland, Austria, basically everywhere.”
Prizes were awarded for the longest journey and the best-looking vehicle. The gathering was funded through a raffle. The highlight of the event was a visit to the nearby Nuerburgring where the RS and ST enthusiasts put their cars through their paces during a few laps on the legendary ‘Nordschleife’.
The event also offered a great opportunity for information exchange and talking shops about the latest in valve timing, exhaust systems and cooling modifications.
Focus RS owner Carsten said: “This is the best-looking car in its class. You can do a lot with it in terms of tuning and performance, it’s got 400 PS, we’ve modified the exhaust and some other technical details. It’s my hobby to tinker with the car; move away from the standard a little and redesign it a bit according to personal flavour, in terms of looks and performance.”
